The Lancet study inaccurately reports that maga-dose antioxidant vitamins are useless in reducing the risk of heart disease and cancer. 250 mg of vitamin C, 600 IU of vitamin E and 20 mg of beta carotene were employed in the study. The study was funded by Roche and Merck, drug companies that make the statin drugs which are known to cause cancer in laboratory animals, but generate high profits for these companies. These are drugs designed to cause the liver to malfunction and which have other serious side effects in the long term.
The truth is that the statin drugs have never been shown to reduce mortality rates. The reduced mortality rate in this recent study is surmised, not proven. Only an additional 2-4 patients among 100 patients taking statin drugs will benefit from these drugs over and above a group taking aspirin.
The study also proves that mega-dose antioxidant vitamins are safe, but this headline goes unreported.
Dr. Rory Collins, the chief investigator in this statin drug study, has long been a shill for the drug companies and previously reported I.V. magnesium was of no benefit to heart attack victims, which is untrue. This study is nothing more than sleight of hand. -B Sardi, Knowledge of Health, Inc.
