Sepsis: Leaking Blood Vessels

"Researchers at St. Michael's Hospital have put forward a new theory as to what causes sepsis, an often fatal condition that occurs when infection spreads throughout the body.

Leaking blood vessels may actually be a cause of sepsis, rather than a symptom as previously thought, said Dr. Warren Lee.

Sepsis kills about 1,400 people a day worldwide and is the second-leading cause of death in intensive care units in Canada. Despite intense research, the death rate remains high, between 30 and 50 per cent. Treatments largely consist of surgical removal or drainage of the infected site, antibiotics and supportive care."

Anyone want to take a bet that the leaking blood vessels are caused by lack of vitamin C and the cure is large doses of vitamin C? It seems to me that the scientists are awfully slow to get this. A previous post already demonstrates that large vitamin C doses cures sepsis. How many more people under medical care will die of sepsis before the "great medical minds" come around?

What about the rhogam factor with rH negative blood? Is that not a condition of leaky blood vessels? I have wondered about this for some time with several of family and friends affected by it. Just recently, one young couple we know lost a newborn baby to this affliction. It was their fourth baby and apparently, the antibodies had built up significantly. It seems to me that the baby died about five days after birth.

Could higher vitamin C levels with improved blood vessel integrity be a rational option for such expectant mothers? I agree that for most people, a mercury-free rhogam shot is a prudent choice. But isn't it scientifically reasonable to see this as vitamin C deficiency problem???

Maybe both vitamin C and E infusion would do job better ? Vitamin C would recycle E and E prevents hemolisis.

Vitamin C will not only improve blood vessel integrity, but it will significantly damp down the activity of antibodies. See the clip "Rationale for the Use of High-Dose Ascorbate" here, at about 5 minutes in, for how it does this.

"Therefore, it may be possible to improve microvascular function in sepsis by using intravenous vitamin C as an adjunct therapy."
