Boyfriend is now off the rat poison!

This is a happy day. His recent CT scan showed that there are no ischemic issues in his brain, the blood flow is all good. The test results did say that he has some mild calcified plaque in the proximal right internal carotid artery without hemodynamically significant stenosis. Maybe getting off off of the warfarin will actually help with that, as it increases calcification. The doc said he's doing well enough that he doesn't need the warfarin any more. He recommended aspirin.

When he had the MRI done in July, it showed minor ischemic changes, but I'm thinking that getting off the zetia helped enormously, as the zetia is known to actually thicken blood vessel walls. Ain't it grand?

Now he's down to just 2 blood pressure meds, and prescription niacin for cholesterol. We had one BP med (procardia) reduced by 25% a few weeks ago, and that was a major improvement too. The warfarin is also known to cause fatique, so I hope thus helps give him a leg up yet a gain with getting past fatigue, because he seems to have been having problems with working
full time.

He's continuing with the 3 grams of vitamin C and etc., and seems to finally be becoming open minded about Orthomolecular medicine. He's also taking lots of blood thinning supplements. More vitamin E would still be good.

Thanks for the report. (Funny how the medications often make the condition they are supposed to treat worse.. Hmmm, I wonder why that is??)

You're welcome Owen :). he wants to lower the warfarin somewhat gradually,
so he's starting off with halving the dose. And the weird thing is, his blood
pressure is getting lower now.

Just wanted to give an update: He's feeling better yet again now that he's completely off of it.
he's agreed to taking out the artichoke extract and pantethine, and adding vitamin k2 MK7
plus nattokinase to his regimen. I tried to sell him on just increasing the vitamin E, for preventing
blood clots, but he wants to try the nattokinase.

So now he has a chance to really clear out his arteries. And he says he feels he's pretty much
back to what he was before the stroke, mentally. What a relief.

And I've apparently been taking the wrong kind of vitamin K - MK4 has a "short half life"
so the MK7 type is better.

@kohlrabicroce: Your boyfriend should read Dr. Davis' take on nattokinase: The nattokinase scam and Near-death experience with nattokinase.

Thanks you for the links Serdna. The comments section, in which people argued against the articles,
were very interesting.
