I have looked through all my bloodwork and I don't see testosterone having been checked, though I am still waiting on some results from the last doctor. I won't get those until a week from today. The only "t" items I see are all related to the thyroid (T3, FREE; T4, FREE; TSH; and TSH, 3rd generation). I will pay attention to the next results and see if they have testosterone on them, especially with this information about statins/red yeast rice.

I received the results from one more set of blood tests. I assume I will get the rest at the appointment Tuesday.

Alpha-1 HDL 12.9 mg/dL
Alpha-2 HDL 48.9 mg/dL
Alpha-3 HDL 24.0 mg/dL
Alpha-4 HDL 18.2 mg/dL
Prebeta-1 HDL 7.4 mg/dL
Lathosterol 90 μmol x100/mmol of TC
Desmosterol 70 μmol x100/mmol of TC
Beta-Sitosterol 118 μmol x100/mmol of TC
Campesterol 114 μmol x100/mmol of TC
LpPLA2 172 ng/mL
Glycated Serum Protein 216 μmol/L
Adiponectin 2.6 μg/dL
NT-proBNP 24 pg/mL

While there are a few that are high and a few that are borderline, I was happy to see some in the "optimal" range. Doesn't change the fact that some of these numbers aren't where I would like them to be.

I found the NT-proBNP to be the most intriguing, especially considering the high CRP from an earlier test.

Today I had my follow-up appointment, and I received more bloodwork back. At this point I am only waiting on the heavy metal testing. I am not going to go over all of it here, but will give the high points.

In summary, he said my bloodwork was a atrocious, but my arteries looked healthy. Long term vitamin C benefit? I think so.

Two nutrients were low:
• zinc was 37 (% control) and reference range is >37%
Vitamin C was 30 (% control) and reference range is >40%

Other numbers of interest:
• Total LDL Particles: 1198
• Non-HDL Particles: 1283
• RLP (Remnant): 217
• Small - Dense LDL III: 655
• Large - Buoyant HDL 2b: 1457
• Apo B-100: 138
Lp(a): 104.5
• Metabolic Syndrome Traits: 3
• CRP: 9.0 (other test said 7.8)
• Testosterone, Total: 325 (250-1100 ng/dL)
• Free Testosterone: 57 (35-155 pg/mL)
• Vitamin D, 25-OH, D2: <4
• Vitamin D, 25-OH, D3: 37
• Vitamin D, 25-OH, Total: 37 (30-100 ng/mL)
• Homocysteine: 14.2

Even at nmole/l - that Lp(a) is high. What are the units and reference range?

Low vitamin C is an indicator that your metabolic needs exceed even your seemingly currently high vitamin C intake.

mg/dL, reference range is 0-30=Optimal, 30-35=Borderline, and 35-50=High.

Ultra high Lp(a) if measured (and not calculated) again implying that you can thank Linus Pauling and Matthias Rath for their invention of Lp(a) binding inhibitors - to reduce the chance that all those sticky Lp(a) molecules will form plaque.

The primary Lp(a) binding inhibitors are vitamin C and lysine (and proline).

Pauling/Rath Patents

5,230,996 - Use of Ascorbate and (Lysine) for Organ and Blood Vessel Treatment Prior to Transplantation.

You should consider taking a look at Homocysteine-Lowering by B Vitamins Slows the Rate of Accelerated Brain Atrophy in Mild Cognitive Impairment: A Randomized Controlled Trial if your blood level of homocysteine is greater than 9.5µmol/L (128µg/dl).

Thanks you Serdna, I will look into it.
