Still has Angina w/exercise - 18 months on Pauling Therapy

Post Number:#1  Post by ofonorow » Fri Nov 14, 2014 6:13 am

Mr Fonorow,

I am 67 have had a blockage for 2yrs weigh 180. 6ft tall 4bypasses 1996, good general health otherwise.. I have been taking. 3scoops per day (Cardio-C). For 18 months. Still have angina with brisk walking. Subsides quickly when walking slows or stops momentary. In your judgement will the cardio c clear the blockage given more time. One note, my circulation is excellent, awake to a erection most mornings. I generally feel good.

Thanks , your input. Would appreciated.
Claude

A few questions:

1) What do you doctors say? Diagnosis
2) What medications are you on?
3) If math correct, 3 scoops is 7500 mg vitamin C (and lysine). Usually more than enough lysine/proline, but you may need 10,000 or more vitamin C. So I would recommended adding vitamin C powder to your drink, or take it separately. If gas/diarrhea issues, considering making the additional vitamin C liposomal.
4) If you can describe the location and type of Angina pain, that may help also.

A few additional thoughts based on what you have told us. In addition to adding more vitamin C, you should consider taking at least 1 Super-K vitamin K complex from Life Extension (LEF.ORG) daily. If there is a problem with calcification, vitamin K will help, probably especially K2 (and strangely, medicine/cardiology routinely recommends that heart patients avoid vitamin K.)

First a DIG!!

CUT BACK ON THE E.D. MED’S!!! (Viagra, Cialis)
Ref; “Morning Wood.”

Second:

An addition to Owen’s Excellent Question’s?

Do you have any sub-lingual Nitro Pills?
If you do! Have you tried using one when you have these pain’s??
If you have. Do they help?

Thanks for your reply,
In 2010 or 2011 after some fairly significant chest pain while walking I had a stress test at Which time the dr. Told Me I had a partial blockage in the artery on the back of my heart. The Dr. Wanted to send me to the cath lab and I felt this would be the last resort.
I take no medication. I do take the following Supplements in addition to the Pauling therapy(I have added the additional vit c you suggested). Thanks
5000units vitd3
15 mg vit k2
100. Mg ubiqunol
400 units unique E
15 mg lutein
1 zywobin forte after meals
200 mg magnesium 2 x day
100 mg vit b-6
99mg potassium
Heart choice plant sterols
Lindberg varsity pack 2 multi vit/mineral
Opti-vue eye

9/14 physical blood work all normal except
Cholesterol 220 high
HDL 41 normal
LDL 157 high
Non HDL cholesterol 179 high
Triglycerides 111 normal

To describe the pain: a slow building pressure behind the heart, under shoulder blade and sometimes coming up my neck. I know it's my heart because I have had several attacks and to answer John's question nitro pellets eases the pain completely. I tried the nitro at first onset to determine if it was my heart.

Thanks for any help

In reality your cholesterol levels for a 67 year old are Normal except I would like to see a HDL more around 50.
I bet your blood work didn’t include Homocysteine or an LP(a) reading and these are the two most important readings at this point.

What I would do at this point is change nothing you been taking but add Folic acid about 400MCg. And B-12 1000MCg. This will help lower homocysteine if it’s high. Without a reading it’s a shot in the dark but neither of these will do harm if it’s not.
The LP(a) is being taken care of by the Pauling Therapy but that’s going to take time to correct.

Now I know it appears you’re NOT a big fan of med’s but for the angina since fast acting Nitro helps it might be a good idea to have a talk with your doc about starting one I believe will help you. It’s called Isosorbide Mononitrate ER which is a extended release Nitro pill. Even thou it’s a extended release it only has an effective time frame of 12 hours so it would be a twice a day pill. What I believe is happening is your experiencing Vasospasms which is were the muscles of the artery go into spasms due to the minor blockage. (ie, they get ticked off because something is there they don’t like, the blockage)
These pills come in a variety of strength’s that I would leave up to your doc to determine. He knows you in person so he could gauge better on what would fit your needs.
Do a search on it so you can see if you would consider it! Think of it as a Pain Pill and not a medicine. However by dilating the arteries it allows more of the good stuff to do it’s job in getting rid of that glob!!!

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the suggestions. The last time ( 11/11 I had crp and homocysteine run both were normal crp was less than .05 and homocysteine was 10.5. I will discuss the nitro with my cardiologist. The right dosage might work. My. Blood pressure run low. Typically between 90/65 to 110/70 heart rate varies from low 60's to 78 or so resting.
Too much nitro does me in.

Thanks

99mg of potassium is nothing. Ive questioned literally hundreds or friends/family and strangers and out of that lot I have only found 1 person to even come close to consuming the 4700mg FDA potassium amount. Most are well under the 2000mg level.

One of the best things I have done for performance, energy and joint pain is to log my food intake, calculate average potassium intake and supplement to get me over the 4700mg mark.
