Arterial Calcification Reduced with Vitamin K2 Intake According to New Study in the Scientific Journal "Atherosclerosis"

Researchers of the University of Utrecht in The Netherlands examined 564 post-menopausal women regarding whether a daily intake of vitamin K1 and K2 is associated with the degree of coronary calcification.

A higher intake of vitamin K2 was associated with 20% reduction of coronary calcification. The publication is accepted by the journal "Atherosclerosis" and the results are now available online.

Ralph, I think that K2 is one of the important, "newly discovered" supplements.

Hey you guys, I just checked my bottle of SUPER K
from Life Extension. It has K1 @ 9 mg and
K2 @ 1000 mcg -- I think mcg is the same as
microgram, so that would be 200 times higher
than the amount used in the Netherlands test.

Any comment?

MK-7 is much less expensive and may require only 45 micrograms to be effective for arterial calcification.

Some of the research for MK-4 showed that it was effective in cancer and leukemia, but at high doses of 45 milligrams and more as DOLEV stated.

For Dolev, My earlier post may have violated
protocol -- didn't show up, so I'll keep it
very simple: Amount of the -7 is 20 mcg
out of the 1000 mcg total

Not bad, but I'll probably stay with the 100 mcg MK4.
