Help w/Heart Failure

Hi Owen,
i came across your website a few days ago and it gave me hope for my mom
who is a severe heart failure patient.The doctors say she doesn't have much
time. i was wondering if vitamin c and other such supplements could help
improve her condition. i started her on coq10 2 days ago,but i havent
noticed any change,she is on bed and is rapidly losing energy. she was
diagnosed as a diabetic 2 weeks ago.
Her current medicines are:
Spiromide: 1+ 1/2+0
loprin : 1+0+0
Carveda: 1/2+0+1/2
digoxin: 1/2 +0+0
Nexum: 0+0+1
daonil: 1/2+0+0
the coenzyme i am giving her is :

Coq-10 (GNC) 100mg:Gelatin,soybean oil,Glycerin, Chlorophyll, Titanium
Dioxide(natural mineral whitener)

She is taking 3 pills of Coq-10 everyday.

My family is extremely worried about her, kindly let me know how if there
are any supplements which can help her.

Sorry to hear about your mother. 300 mg of CoQ10? Assuming she has her gallbladder, she needs to take CoQ10 with fats in order for the CoQ10 to be absorbed into the blood stream. Does she like peanut butter? I would try 200 mg 3 times daily. (i.e. 2 pills at a time.)

I would also try to start her on the Pauling therapy (vitamin C/lysine) as described in this post:

If by nexum you meant nexium - acid blocker, then I am concerned because one requires natural levels of stomach acid to absorb vitamin C. Diabetes can also interfere with vitamin C metabolism. Type 2 can be controlled. Stop all trans fats in her diet while you read:

I would question the doctor on loprin unless she has a female cancer problem.
Another one is daonil which could even block the absorbation of V-C. It's used for type 2 Diabetes. Heavy duty drug!
All the other drugs are standard CHF Meds. ie Dieuretics,Beta Blockers etc.

Intresting to note I didn't recognize Spiromide which is a dieuretic used only in Europe and not available in the US. Made me look it up. It's a dual action dieuretic with an excellent track record makes you wonder why such a safe drug isn't avaiable in the US.

thank you for the information. i am going to start her on vitmin C and lysine immediately. she has type II diabetes which is not too high.
Yes the medicine is nexium, i am thinking of switching her back to ulcenil (40mg) in place of nexium as that was the medicine prescribed before. is ulcenil an acid blocker as well?
she is not a big fan of peanut butter, here we get fresh cow milk and make our own cream and butter, if these dont have any trans fat and will help with coq 10 shall i give it to her with these?

in pakistan loprin is used as a blood thinner i guess,not too sure about it though. she doesn't have cancer.

Good catch godsilove. Your Right!! Got to start wearing my glass's. Couldn't figure out why they would be giving a cancer drug to a CHF patient. But you never know.
