Scott, when the HPS first came out, I tried to obtain the raw data - which they protected (hid?). Do you know, have they released it yet? Because if you read the HPS paper, I believe there were four groups - statin, statin + vitamin, vitamin, placebo. (Not sure whether there was a vitamin only group) and I remember wondering from the write up whether they included the statin and statin+vitamin groups together (versus placebo) when discussing the "beneficial" effects of statins. In fact, because they hid the data, I assumed this was the case.
