Vitamin C reduces heart attack risk factor

"We conclude that an elevation in homocysteine concentration is associated with an acute impairment of
vascular endothelial function that can be prevented by pretreatment with vitamin C in healthy subjects. Our results
support the hypothesis that the adverse effects of homocysteine on vascular endothelial cells are mediated through
oxidative stress mechanisms. (Circulation. 1999;99:1156-1160.)"

My experience with homocysteine.

6 years ago I found that raised homocysteine levels in my patients suffering from Strokes and MIs.

Now I get blood levels checked of people suffering from these 2 diseases.

In all these 6 years have tried many different treatment modalities to lower/normalize blood levels but found Gluta, GSH to be the most effective.

The obvious homocysteine-lowering nutrients are folic acid, B12 and B6.

Homocysteine should be checked in any mental or neurological disorder also, including mild cognitive impairment. The last issue of the Journal of Orthomolecular Medicine had a nice article on this, and I suggest that everyone subscribe.

Correct but they take time, Folic etc are great prophylactics, in acute cases of Strokes & MIs, IV Gluta is ideal drug of choice for lowering it, in my clinical experience.
