I am a medical student, have started my 3rd year here in Norway. Together with a friend I have tried sodium ascorbate intravenous twice. I am a little skeptical (always am) concerning side effects such as air embolus.

We have mixed sterilized water and sodium ascorbate to get a 25 % sodium ascorbate solution and then injected this via a syringe into the veins via a catheter. Hopefully we will be able to get a bit more advanced by using a IV infusion set to reduce the amount of air bubbles.

Are there any comments regarding how we can do this more effectively, about the risk of air embolus etc?

Any results so far worthwhile mentioning??

Yes. As we used the solution right away, we didn't find it necessary to use EDTA. Lactated Ringer wasn't that easy to get. That's why we made a 25% solution directly (with only sterilized water).

It's hard to say. When injecting 30 grams (within 30 minutes I think, perhaps more, but not more than an hour), I became really thirsty. This was expected because of the hypertonicity of the solution.

I got the same feeling in my head, as when ingesting a lot of carbs. (I usually eat low-carb) Like a light pressure on both sides of the head. If you put both hands on each side of your head so that your fingers meet on the top, the palm of your hands was the sensation's location.

No side effects noticed.

We will be doing it approximately once a week or once every other week.

You are very unconventional students of medicine. My feeling is that most
of the kids attracted to this study just want to become drug dealers with
white collards. But there is always a curious minority.

Linus Pauling. I hope that you will find some time to read the articles

On friday we will measure blood pressure before and after administration of sodium ascorbate. One of us will drink a lot of water and the other will not.

It might actually increase blood pressure because of all the sodium.
