If only I could be as prominent as Dr. Weil, instead of posting on a forum that gets only a handful of views per day. I don't think Big Pharma Inc. is getting a very good return on investment at the moment. But on a more serious note....the entire premise of this thread is rubbish.

I have found that the cyanide component in one raw peruano bean(crumbled and ingested)allows approximately 500 mgs of ascorbic acid synthesis in a human.I am awed by God's super engineering. Thanks,Van

For once I'm gonna have to agree with godsilove. Where are you getting this information Van?

Before discounting this alternate ascorbic acid pathway, please try it.Thanks,Van

Re: Cyanide Pathway to ascorbic acid synthesis in humans
Generally speaking it is a bad idea to eat beans raw because of toxicity from agglutination and other anti-enzyme factors. People with G6PD deficiency could die from ingesting just a handful. I could find no evidence that indigenous people of Mexico consume raw peruano beans.
Where does the notion come from that eating a small Mexican bean raw can produce 500 mg of vitamin C in humans? Was there a little ergot alkaloid on that peruano bean?

If you don't like the bean idea, try several raw apricot pits throughout each day.Same component. Thanks,Van

You are right Godsilove. While ascorbic acid is available, use it.These ideas are for"just in case".Thanks, Van

Re: Cyanide Pathway to ascorbic acid synthesis in humans
This thread needs to be bilged.
Why not take arsenic, "just in case"?

Re: Cyanide Pathway to ascorbic acid synthesis in humans
Van, Are you saying that by consuming raw beans and apricots, they actually reduce your body's demand for vitamin C? Have you actually tried this yourself??? If so, how do you manage to keep from poisoning yourself with cyanide???
