Is World's Finest Vitamin C Synthetic?
Quote: Is your worlds finest vitamin C all plant based ? I don't want anything synthetic J.B.
Our vitamin C is the world's purest and meets the definition of "synthetic", as it is manufactured; as is most of the worlds' vitamin C supplements since the 1930s. I would be wary of so-called "natural" vitamin C, as it is usually much more expensive, and it may be synthetic with some natural "complex" added, and if it were indeed somehow extracted say from a fruit, much if not all of the vitamin C would probably destroyed in the process.
The bottom line is to eat fruit if you want natural vitamin C, although it might required 200 oranges per day to reach what Linus Pauling recommended.
We wrote a position paper about this http://vitamincfoundation.org/NaturalC.htm
We have a forum that discusses this topic http://www.vitamincfoundation.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=14

All manufacturing of ingredients ingested by humans has rigorous standards, i.e., regulations. All the testing you must be thinking of that governments require of drugs (but not supplements) is because a) drugs are so toxic and b) drug companies want some idea of how much their liability will be if they market the drug.
Regulations/guidelines do not ensure high quality, but they can give the perception of such.

Re: Is World's Finest Vitamin C Synthetic?
The days of low quality supplements are over. It took FDA over 15 years of foot dragging to implement GMP in DSHEA. The reason? To allow miscreants and cheaters to sabotage the vitamin industry. Read my post here for more: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8258
