First Post - Statins

Post by djnzlab1 » Thu Feb 21, 2008 3:09 pm

HI,
First post on this forum, I came here after stumbling across the research about Vitamin C and Lysine have positive effects on heart disease, which for me means it improves cardiovascular function. I have hyper-tension.
I was taking Zocor and after 6mos started having sever leg pain and weakness, thought maybe I had MS or some other disease. It seems that many statins also deplete CQ10 a very important coenzyme for muscle activity that has been linked to a increase in ALS like symptoms. My guess is the drug companies already know this and are hidding it from the DR's.
My DR was surprised that I had problems . He said a few of his patients had similar problems.
SO I started at 2000 mgm's of C and 1500 of Lysine a day and if I tolerate that dose I will try to titrate up the C to around 4000.
I seem to feel better too.
Doug

PS anyone taking statins may at any time have cq10 depletion leading to ALS like symptoms that can lead to permanent dissability. This has been well doccumented in Europe . :?:

Thank you for this report. If that is all the vitamin C and lysine you can tolerate, you might consider Lypo-C from LivonLabs.com

As far as the statins, since Mr. Bill Sardi was nice enough to plug my upcoming book (DRAFT cover at http://practicingmedicinewithoutalicense.com )
I hope I am not speaking out of school by revealing that Sardi is writing a book about statin drugs and the damage they are doing to heart patients.

First, there is of course the Merck patent 4,933,165 (1990). This is absolute proof the Merck knew about the CoQ10 depletion issue right from the beginning.

Second, there are the warnings in the Candian Versions of the Medical Journals. Here is a scan of a statin ad in the NEJM
.
http://naturesperfectstatin.com/canada.htm
These warnings are not required by the FDA in the United States. I have written letters to the FDA, and I know that Dr. Julian Whitaker and others have petitioned the FDA for statin label warnings about the CoQ10 issue.

We also put this page together to compare the statin drugs with vitamin C.

Thanks Owen for that plug about Sardi's book. I am obsessed with the cholesterol scam and the damage that statins have done so am looking forward to Sardi's next book.

Of course I am looking forward to your book too. I have learned so much from this forum.

Owen, I emailed Bill Sardi to ask about his new book about statins and he said that he is not doing one. Could it be someone else? If so, who?

Actually, Bill Sardi just recently completed a book last year on Cancer so maybe this is the book you are talking about.

HI,
Thanks for all the info, I can say that I haven't felt this good in a long time.
I am very worried about the rest of the world who are being led like little lambs to take their statins and devolope all kinds of problems never realizing that its the meds.
I plan to check my blood lipids in July will post the results, I am now tolerating 5 gms of C and 5 grams of Lysine, spread over 5 doses a day. My BP is improving and I have to decrease my BP meds to prevent fatigue..
I also take 500 mgs of niacin twice a day to improve circulation and it also helps lipids to improve.
All the aches, sever tendon pains, loss of flexability are easing off.
I thought it was age.
