60 grams yesterday for cold and sore throat

Post Number:#1  Post by scottbushey » Tue Jul 06, 2010 2:57 am

Today, my stools are light, bordering on white??? When you google this condition this is what comes up:

4. Gray stools, pale stools, putty or clay colored stools may be seen in hepatitis, gallbladder disorders, or malabsorption conditions. Bile salts in the stool excreted by the liver give it a normal brown color. Obstruction to bile flow out of the liver (you may see the word "cholestasis"), or liver infections like viral hepatitis (A, B, C, etc.), may produce clay colored stools. Possible causes for clay colored stool result from problems in the biliary system (the drainage system of the gallbladder, liver, and pancreas): Malabsorption problems can cause undigested fat in the stool (steatorrhea) which is characterized by foul smelling, light yellow to gray, greasy or frothy stools. This may also be caused by low bile output.

Could the above be caused by the high dose VC washing the fat out of my liver?

I think you'd be the first. Seriously, I am waiting for johnwen's reaction.

One theory is that you exhausted your supply of bile, or there is an obstruction. While we wait, do you have your gallbladder? Any abdominal pains? A person requires cholesterol to make bile - isn't yours supposedly high? Did you resort to the statin?

And what happened at 60 GRAMS? Was that your limit?

And you got sick in the summer?!? Are you not getting 20 minutes of sunshine?

How could that occur?

While we wait, do you have your gallbladder?

Yes.

Any abdominal pains?
None

A person requires cholesterol to make bile - isn't yours supposedly high?

Last I checked, 3 mos ago it was.........

Did you resort to the statin?

No!

And what happened at 60 GRAMS? Was that your limit?

I didn't reach BT; that was the total for the day.......Today I feel like it is 90% resolved. Some stuffiness; Keep in mind, I had a vicious sore throat and severe congestion before the 60 grams.

And you got sick in the summer?!?

Yes. I was at the beach....my mother in-law was sick with the same thing; she came w/ us on a 3 hr ride to the area we spent the 4th on; she's still sick.

Are you not getting 20 minutes of sunshine?

I was at the beach! Genertally, I do not get 20 min's of sunshine.........

Symptoms:

Pale-colored stools (caused by lack of bilirubin)
Dark urine (caused by bilirubin excreted in the urine)
Jaundice (yellow skin color)
Itching
Abdominal pain in the upper right quadrant
Fever
Nausea and vomiting

I don't have any of these sans the light colored stools............my urine is as clear as bottled water.

What form of V-C did you take, Pills, caps, powders?

Some pills have high levels of titanium dioxide used to make white paint, hi dose a stomach buster!

Caps have silicone dioxide. pass right on thru. white powder undigestable.

Powders read label usually has some filler unless USP

Sounds like filler intoxication to me. Good lubricant!!

Glad you feel better!

White blood cells do what??
When they do their job they are removed where?
Then they go where??

Would have like to seen a differential panel on you when this was happening.
Sounds like the V-C you took did a good job getting rid of the bugs!!

We may be in luck as I just had labs drawn this am. Waiting on the results. As well, my stools are back to normal.

CRP: CRP, High Sensitivity 25.80 H <5.0 *This is insane! My last result 6 mos ago was 3.2

Triglycerides 189
Cholesterol 214 H
HDL Cholesterol 31 L >39
LDL Cholesterol 145 H 60
TC:HDL Ratio 6.9 H 0 5.1

The Tri's came down 26 ppoints
The LDL came down 63 points.
The HDL dropped 3 points instead of going up.
Total Chol dropped 71 points
Ratio went from 8.4 to 6.9

~I started the P. Therapy is 9/09. The above levels are identical to what my cholesterol levels were before starting the therapy. My doctor looked at the side by sides blood results and asked "What did you do between 9/09 and now; what caused the levels to peak so much in 12/-09 and now are identical to where you were-what did you do during those 4 mos?"

Interesting. (And I think johnwen nailed the stool color.)
what caused the levels to peak so much in 12/-09 and now are identical to where you were-what did you do during those 4 mos?"

We have had numerous initial reports of elevated cholesterol in those on the PT, but I can not remember if we even knew how long such elevated levels might last - the theory is presumably the cholesterol coming off the insides of the arteries :?: But it also may have something to do with endogenous cholesterol production.

Owen, I am encouraged! Thats what I believe was/is happening. The initial increase due to the freeing of the cholesterol; I was shocked to see I am back at my baseline. We will continue with the same protocol for another year. I will recheck my CRP in a month as this one was taken directly in the midst of this vicious sore throat and cold I am dealing with; I am told by some of the MD's here at CC that if you have a virus or are sick it can elevate.

When you get your CRP checked again get a Calcium check also.
You'll see why I saw a red flag when I seen your levels by reading this site.
These guys are suppost to be the best and they have a very comprehensive site.

My Calcium was normal 10.0

10.0 is moving into a gray area that's why I suggested you keep an eye on it.
Normal is 9.4-9.6 when you read that link I posted you'll see how tightly regulated
these figures are and they move only for a reason. You had a bad flu/cold which
could cause a rise so a follow up check would be the logical action to take.
But hay it's your health I can only suggest!
