Personally, I have been very impressed by the mind of Jerry Tennant after reading all his books. Dr. Tennant didn't fall for the cholesterol theory. (And he actually read the statin cholesterol drugs studies, and found that the statistics showed no benefit in cardiovascular disease.)

Dr. Tennant realized that heart disease had nothing to do with cholesterol, and that CVD is the body reacting to damage in the lining of the artery. While his understanding is close to Linus Pauling's, Tennant blames a low power/voltage situation in the heart power circuit for the damage. Pauling/Rath blamed a lack of collage, caused by a lack of vitamin C.
